| Effective 1 July 1998, benefits to employees are portable.
This is because arrangements have been put in place with other States to recognise credits and entitlements earned elsewhere. This means that even if a worker moves between employers and between States, service with these employers can be recognised so long as it is within the construction industry. Any service accrued interstate is paid out to an employee at that state's pay rate.
